Lake|Flato Architects has added ARTHOUSE to its project portfolio, laying out the thinking behind the building.

The 4,000 square foot adaptive reuse project sits on a tight infill site in downtown Marble Falls, next to a post office that dates back to around 1910. The ground floor holds the open arts center and rotating exhibitions. Upstairs is private workspace and offices. A small courtyard, designed by landscape architect Sada Uchiyama, sits between them.

The firm describes its approach as deliberately restrained, using simple materials and quiet forms so the building works as a backdrop for the art instead of competing with it.

The project also picked up two 2026 awards: an AIA San Antonio Place Award in the commercial category and an AIA Austin Design Award of Excellence.
